Genei (玄栄) is a disciple of the Rev. Ryoei Tyler (了栄), abbot of Tendaisyu USA Kongosan Eigenji 金剛山叡元寺. After practicing and studying in various Buddhist traditions for around twenty years, notably Soto Zen, it was in Tendai Buddhism that he decided to settle, and it’s this tradition that he’s pleased to share in Belgium. Genei received the precepts (Tokudo/Ordination) at Enryakuji temple, the main Tendai-shu temple in Japan.

About the Dojo/practice:

At Kongosan Eigenji Dojo de Bruxelles, Genei organises since 2023 weekly meditation sessions in the Tendai tradition. At the moment, it’s the only Tendai Buddhist center in Belgium and in the wider French-speaking world.
